By voting, we make our voice heard and express ourselves, remembering that democracy asks us all to participate in a civil and respectful manner. With that in mind, we want to share with you these few tips to guide and support you through the 2020 election:

  1. Prepare yourself ahead of the voting day (bring your identification, plan your transportation, check the hours your polling place is open).
  2. Remember Covid-19 is still here, so follow social distancing guidelines, wear your mask, and use hand sanitizer.
  3. Go to the polls with others who are also planning to vote – there’s safety in groups.
  4. Check your polling sites options and pick the one that feels the safest. (perhaps one in your neighborhood or that is open at a convenient time).
  5. See if you can drop your ballot off early and do so if you can to avoid crowds and election-day tensions.
  6. If you’re voting on election day, go early to your voting place and give yourself plenty of time.
  7. Inform the officers at the voting place if you get harassed.
  8. Reach out to MALDEF or the ACLU
  9. Remember not to wear any clothes or accessories that promote candidates.
  10. Remain calm and respect the results.
